What you need to drive with us
All drivers must meet Transport for London's licensing rules for private hire. Before you start with us, you will need:
- a valid TfL private hire driver licence, often called a PCO licence
- a vehicle with a current TfL private hire vehicle licence, or access to one
- private hire insurance covering hire and reward
- the right to work in the UK
- a full UK driving licence with a good record
We will ask to see your documents and check your licence with TfL before you take your first booking.

The work we offer
We are a local firm with a steady mix of work. A typical week includes:
- Airport transfers to Heathrow, Gatwick and the other London airports, often early in the morning
- Station runs into central London terminals such as Waterloo and Paddington
- School runs on weekdays in term time, on regular routes with the same children
- Local journeys around Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden and the surrounding areas
- Group travel in 6 and 7 seater vehicles for families, events and companies
Because all our work is pre-booked through the office, you know where you are going before you set off, and passengers know the price before they travel.
Working with us
Our office is on Clarence Street in Kingston town centre, so our drivers spend most of their time in and around the borough rather than across the whole of London. Details of how we pay drivers are: [commission or rent terms]. Vehicle options: [own vehicle / vehicle hire options].
We expect drivers to be punctual, polite and smart, to help passengers with their luggage where they can, and to keep their vehicle clean. School-run drivers must follow the handover arrangements agreed with parents.
How to apply
Email info@kingstoncars.org.uk with the subject line "PCO driver application". Include your name, your phone number, your PCO licence number and expiry date, and a few lines about your driving experience and the hours you would like to work. You can also call the office on 020 8546 7000 for an informal chat first.
