About Chessington

Chessington is a suburban area at the southern tip of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Most people know it for Chessington World of Adventures Resort on Leatherhead Road, but it is also a residential area with two stations, Chessington North and Chessington South, on the branch line from Waterloo. To the north, Hook and the Hook roundabout connect Chessington to the A3 and Kingston.

Theme park and resort transfers

On summer weekends and school holidays, the roads around the resort fill up with visitors. A taxi drops you at the entrance without worrying about the car park. Families staying at the resort hotels often book us from Heathrow or Gatwick, or from London stations. For a large family or two families together, our 7 seater keeps everyone in one vehicle.

For the return, book a pick-up time in advance or call the office when you are leaving. Closing time is busy, so agree a clear meeting point with the driver.

The Gatwick shortcut

Chessington is one of the best places in our area for Gatwick. Instead of going up to the A3, the car heads south on the A243 through Malden Rushett to junction 9 of the M25 at Leatherhead, then round to the M23. On a good run, the whole trip takes well under an hour.

Local trips

We also carry Chessington residents to Kingston town centre, Surbiton station, Kingston Hospital and Epsom. If you are going to a hotel or an event, our hotel transfer taxi page has tips on timing.

Popular pick-up points in Chessington

  • Chessington World of Adventures: the theme park, zoo and resort hotels on Leatherhead Road.
  • Chessington South station: the end of the line from Waterloo, closest to the resort.
  • Chessington North station and Hook Road: the residential heart of Chessington.
  • Hook roundabout: where the A243 meets the A3, a handy meeting point for longer trips.

Theme park traffic follows a clear pattern. Mornings are busy with arrivals, and there is a second rush around closing time when everyone leaves together. If you are visiting the resort, book your return for 30 minutes after closing, or call the office when you reach the exit, so you are not waiting in the crowd.

Away from the resort, Chessington is a quiet residential area where many households rely on taxis for hospital appointments, supermarket shopping and trips to Kingston. Regular customers can ask the office about repeat bookings for weekly journeys.
